The Bed of Procrustes

The title refers to the figure who forced travellers to fit his bed by stretching or amputating them. Taleb uses it for institutions that mutilate reality until it fits a theory, metric, model, mandate or ideology. Best read slowly; the aphorisms become more useful as you accumulate real-world experience.
