The Age of Reason Begins

The transition from confessional conflict toward scientific inquiry, political realism and the centralised state. Civilization began separating questions settled by authority from questions requiring observation, experiment and reason. At the same time the state acquired far greater capacity to tax, administer, regulate, mobilise and wage war.
