Energy, Knowledge, and Technological Transformation

Daniel Yergin · David Deutsch · Michael Saylor
3 works70 hours

Any account of civilization that omits energy, knowledge or technology is incomplete. Energy sets the physical limit on what can be done. Knowledge sets the limit on what can be conceived. Technology turns knowledge into capability that scales — and markets and institutions decide whether that capability gets deployed productively, suppressed, monopolised, or turned into a weapon.

Yergin accounts for the capacity to act; Deutsch for the capacity to discover. Energy without knowledge is only brute force. Knowledge without energy stays potential.
